It sounds simple and ridiculous to think changing your name may improve your writing opportunities, but here’s a writer’s story that may make you think differently.

This is not an end-all answer. It may just be a cog in the writing wheel. Famous writers have done so. A writer in Scotland has named himself Jack Strange and titles all his stories Strange Tales of… That’s a catchy gimmick.
